Buyer checklist

A practical brief for your next domain acquisition

Bring the intended use, alternatives, scope and transfer questions into one conversation before making an offer.

Explain the business use in one paragraph

Write down what you intend to build or move, who the audience is and why the name fits. Include whether this will be the primary brand, a category destination or a campaign address. This brief gives the owner context without requiring a long pitch. It also helps your own team agree on what success would look like before a memorable name becomes an end in itself.

Bring alternatives and evidence

List the names you could realistically use and the tradeoffs between them. Review a small set of relevant public sales rather than choosing only record prices. Our expanded library covers print, apparel, finance, visual media, lead generation and short names. Some references are close category matches; others are explicitly broader context. For operating sites, evaluate the domain and supporting assets separately. None of the examples is a promised future resale result.

Define scope, timing and responsibility

Ask who can authorize the transaction, which registrar holds the name and what assets are included. If an operating site is involved, identify who will handle hosting, DNS, software access and any permitted data transfer. Confirm the expected process with the transaction provider and registrar. A timetable should reflect actual restrictions and diligence needs, not an arbitrary launch date that pressures either party to skip checks.

Make a specific, reviewable inquiry

Send the exact domain, your intended use, timing and preferred terms through the listing. If price is not published, ask for a discussion instead of treating a comparable as a quote. Keep records of proposed terms and confirm final instructions directly. Our portfolio is an acquisition starting point: current availability and the scope of any agreement must be confirmed with the owner. A clear brief makes that conversation more useful for everyone.
